Opportunity Center Classroom

Geared toward youth ages 16-25, this workshop explores the necessary skills for education and career success.

Soft Skills are personal attributes that enable someone to interact effectively and harmoniously with other people and are essential for a positive outcome in both education and employment. 

In this 6-course series, participants will cover the following topics:

  • Attitude – Define a positive workplace attitude, strategies for responding to negative feedback from others, and explore examples of attitudes that lead to success.
  • Dependability – Define dependability, use activities to explore ways to become more dependable with co-workers, supervisors, and others in personal and professional life.
  • Motivation – Understand how motivation drives success in the workplace, community, or personal life. Goal setting is emphasized.
  • Conflict Resolution - Explore how conflict and reasons conflict happens at work and the impact of conflict on performance.
  • Customer Service Relationships – Understand the qualities of excellent customer service. Explore ways to provide extra consideration to special populations and how to respond to customer complaints.
  • Interviewing Skills- Learn the different types of interviews. How to prepare for an interview, and how to conduct a successful interview to help you stand out over other candidates.

Each participant is eligible to earn a $25 Egift card to Walmart with participation in 3 workshops. Attend all 6 courses and earn up to $50 in Walmart Egift cards!

About the branch

The Ladd Library is located at 3750 Williams Blvd SW and is a 16,000 square foot facility. It features one community room with space for up to 50 people, which can be utilized for meetings and special events. The Ladd Library has a wonderful collection of materials, public computers, a children's library, and space to sit and read or tables to work or gather.
