Unmasking Brain Injury is a striking pop-up art show sponsored by the Brain Injury Alliance of Iowa, a canvas for the thoughts and feelings of survivors of brain injury.
Artists from Iowa have painted, collaged, and written upon masks to visually represent their journey to increase awareness. When it comes to responding to brain injury and its impact, it’s necessary for professionals, family members, and friends supporting a survivor to regularly “unmask” his or her brain injury, truly hearing and respecting the weight of their unique story, and its impact on his or her life. Unmasking Brain Injury is a testament to these stories.
