CRPL and PFLAG will host a day that celebrates our LGBT community through history, art, music and literature. Community organizations will be here sharing their resources. Everyone is welcome.
From 10:00 am- 10:30 there will be a children's story time. From 10:30 am-11 am a gay, lesbian, bisexual and trans speaker will do a presentation for young adults with a Q and A and following that at 11:30-11:45 am, a presenter from Iowa Women's Archives will discuss local history. Finally, we will head to the Commons for art, music and personal stories of Coming Out. Iowa Safe Schools, Willis Dady and One Iowa will be here providing important resources for our community.
The Downtown Library is located at 450 5th Avenue SE, in the heart of Downtown Cedar Rapids. It is a 94,000 square foot building with a variety of civic spaces and a vibrant collection of library materials. Special features of this location are the Whipple Auditorium, a 200 seat auditorium overlooking Greene Square; and the LivingLearning Roof, a green roof with public seating and space to hold special events. Roasters Café is located in the Downtown Library, providing a full service coffee shop for visitors, as well as catering for meetings and special events.
