Learn and practice English for free at the library.

Whether you're an adult English language learner or a native English speaker interested in helping others, our Job Readiness & English Conversation Group offers a unique opportunity to practice English while focusing on essential skills for finding and applying for jobs. 

  • Practice speaking and listening - Improve your English speaking and listening skills through discussions and activities related to job searching and employment. You’ll have the chance to practice both professional vocabulary and everyday language skills. 
  • Learn job searching skills - Gain experience in searching for reliable job opportunities online. Practice searching for reliable jobs, understanding job descriptions, and identifying positions that match your skills and interests. 
  • Build and polish your resume - Learn how to create a professional resume that demonstrates your skills and abilities to employers, even if all of your work experience is outside of the United States.
  • Prepare for job interviews - Engage in practice interview sessions to prepare for answering common questions and building confidence for real-life interviews. 
  • Cultural exchange and networking - Foster connections with others in the group from various backgrounds, share experiences, and exchange cultural insights. Build your network while improving your language skills while learning valuable skills for both personal and professional growth. 

The group is intended to be a relaxed and comfortable environment to practice and ask questions. Whether you’re new to the community or just want to improve your English while preparing for employment, this group is the perfect place to enhance your skills and boost your confidence!

About the branch

The Ladd Library is located at 3750 Williams Blvd SW and is a 16,000 square foot facility. It features one community room with space for up to 50 people, which can be utilized for meetings and special events. The Ladd Library has a wonderful collection of materials, public computers, a children's library, and space to sit and read or tables to work or gather.
