Join members of Amnesty International in a letter-writing event held each year. Participants can learn more about it at a table in the library Commons, and participate themselves in Beems A from 11 am to 6 pm. Come anytime. Sample letters, stationery, and other information will be available.
Every December, during Write for Rights, Amnesty International supporters from all across the globe write letters for people experiencing human rights abuse. Uniting supporters from more than 100 countries, Write for Rights is the biggest human rights event in the world. Learn more at write.amnesty.org.
The Downtown Library is located at 450 5th Avenue SE, in the heart of Downtown Cedar Rapids. It is a 94,000 square foot building with a variety of civic spaces and a vibrant collection of library materials. Special features of this location are the Whipple Auditorium, a 200 seat auditorium overlooking Greene Square; and the LivingLearning Roof, a green roof with public seating and space to hold special events. Roasters Café is located in the Downtown Library, providing a full service coffee shop for visitors, as well as catering for meetings and special events.
